Redefining Tomorrow: The Unprecedented Opportunities & Challenges of Generative AI

Azer Bestavros is the inaugural Associate Provost for Computing & Data Sciences and the William Fairfield Warren Distinguished Professor of Computer Science at Boston University. Prior to his appointment in 2019 to lead the Faculty of Computing & Data Sciences, he was the Founding Director of the Hariri Institute for Computing, set up in 2010 to nucleate BU’s presence in computing and data sciences. He has been a member of the BU faculty since 1991 and chaired its CS Department from 2000 to 2007. A Coptic Egyptian by birth, he holds BS and MS degrees from Alexandria University, and AM and PhD degrees from Harvard University, all in computer science.
